Disaster Animal Response Team (DART)
The Clay County Humane Society was already a part of the County's disaster plan but the summer of 1998 wildfires put the word "disaster" in proper prospective. At the request of the Humane Society of the United States, the Society was called into action to assist with the fires in Flagler and Putnam counties. After experiencing the affects of a disaster firsthand, the Society decided to have a certified Disaster Animal Response Team and sent volunteers for training on Deland. We feel our DART Team will be an asset to the county in the event of a disaster.
