The Clay County Humane Society needs your help. For 30 years this private non-profit organization has dedicated itself to battling pet overpopulation by stopping it at its source - preventing thousands of unwanted litters. The Society’s low cost veterinary clinic has spayed or neutered over 48,000 animals and has provided affordable veterinary care to countless others. Because turning away even one could mean more abandoned, unwanted or unloved litters, an indigent program ensures that those unable to afford even reduced cost spays and neuters are provided for as their pets receive the care they so desperately need.

With the support of the community, the Society has continued to expand its many programs; Pet Assisted Therapy, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Indigent Care, Mobile Rabies Clinics, a Disaster Animal Response Team and Humane Education which is the catalyst of their work.

In 2003 the Society moved to a new facility after their old location was to be sold and later demolished. Mortgage on a building, higher insurance premiums, ever increasing operating costs and qualified professional personnel is a heavy fiscal burden. To make matters worse, the recent rash of hurricanes caused the Society to suffer financially along with other local businesses. As a non-profit, the loss of several days’ revenues causes staggering deficits with the budget that are nearly impossible to recover. A return to stable financial ground is vital at this point for the survival of the organization.

The Society understands first hand how the actions of a few can make a difference for many, so they appeal to you today for help in their time of need. Undoubtedly you know someone that has reached out for help with their pets and found that help at the Clay County Humane Society. The organization receives no state or county funding but relies on clinic revenue and donations. Your contribution is vital to ensure that the Society continues to serve the growing needs of the people and animals of the community-those that rely on them each day. Visit the  clinic at 2230 Filmore Street in Orange Park or call 904-276-7729 for more information about  how you can help.
